Fu Shi made this system so we can calculate what kind of phase we are in. The Trigrams are: Heaven, Lake, Fire, Thunder, Wind, Water, Mountain and Earth. The intervals of the phases are 7 years for women (0-6, 7-13, 14-20 etc) and 8 years for men (0-7, 8-15, 16-23 etc). When we reach the last trigram, Earth (49-55 for women, 56-63 for men) we revert back to the Heaven Trigram and our psyche does a kinda quantum jump. Our psyche gets reset from 0 and our body lives on as it was. So if you should meet a 63-69 year old woman or a 72-79 year old man and that person acts very childish, it is because in their psyche is 7-13 (women) and 8-15 (men) years old and they can act accordingly. Unfortunatly, many elders are viewed as an alzheimer person or have dementia when they have simply revert back to an youthfull age mentally and they might actually remember certain episodes so clearly that the bodily cells mimick the action of the event.
